Toolkits

Our toolkits consist of research-based resources designed to teach safe medication practices to people of all ages.

Our free, ready-to-use toolkits empower communities to engage in prevention education.

Each Generation Rx Toolkit consists of a collection of research-based resources that utilize best practices in prevention and education sciences to teach safe medication practices. With the first toolkit launching in 2009, our portfolio now consists of five stand-alone toolkits targeting universal audiences that include children, teens, college students, adults, and older adults.

Collectively, our toolkits work together across the lifespan to strengthen protective factors and help lower select risk factors associated with medication misuse behaviors.

Generation Rx toolkits help strengthen protective factors by:

  • Teaching safe medication practices
  • Highlighting positive relationships with trusted adults and peers
  • Encouraging positive alternatives and resiliency skills

Generation Rx toolkits can also lower some risk factors by:

  • Addressing commonly held myths about medication misuse
  • Encouraging safe storage and disposal, thus reducing social access to medication

“Without Generation Rx, I would not have the level of satisfaction that I have as a community pharmacist. Generation Rx gave me the resources to take medication safety presentations to four elementary schools in Powell and Dublin, Ohio – reaching thousands of elementary school students.””
